Manhattan Beach police on Christmas Eve arrested a 17-year-old Los Angeles resident in connection to an armed robbery at a Fry’s parking lot in Manhattan Beach.
On Dec. 14 around 5 p.m., a man sitting in his car in the lower Fry’s parking lot on Sepulveda Boulevard was approached by a man dressed in shorts and a grey camouflage hoodie. The suspect pointed a black handgun at the victim, took his wallet and cell phone, then ran up the hill towards Manhattan Village, according to police. He entered the passenger side of a black Nissan Sentra, which drove off towards the west part of the Manhattan Village Mall.
Police obtained the Fry’s security footage which recorded the incident on video and lifted fingerprints from the victim’s car, MBPD Det. Rosenberger said. This information led to the identification of the Los Angeles juvenile as the suspect. He was arrested in his home Tuesday morning, Rosenberger said.
After he was booked at MBPD, he was transported to Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall.
