About Town MB: Going green, PS I love you

Green businesses

The Manhattan Beach City Council recognized 11 local businesses that have fulfilled the California Green Business certification requirements. The businesses each installed LED lighting, reduced their use of disposable paper products in favor of recycled products, participated in the City’s recycling and/or organics program, switched to eco-friendly cleaning products, and installed low-flow aerators on their faucets. The businesses recognized were:  MBS Media Campus, Pacifica Property Group, Pure Bean Coffee, the Children’s Orchard, Hammitt, Vanquish Media Group, Gum Tree, Audrey Johnson Homes, Round Willow Yoga, Body In Balance, and Hi Fi Espresso.

P.S, I Love You

The P.S. I Love You Foundations 22nd Annual “Day at the Beach” fundraiser takes place Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. between 6th and 8th Street in Manhattan Beach. The event brings over 300 underprivileged children to Manhattan Beach to enjoy a day of playing on the sand and in the ocean.  Adult mentors help them learn to use boogie boards and take part in fun beach sports like relay races and beach volleyball.
