Beach sports – Seawright volleyball tradition

A tradition founded in 1968 by Hermosa Strand residents Bunny and Roy Seawright to lure their college-aged kids and their kids’ friends home for the summer celebrated its 51st year this summer, on July 27. The annual Seawright Volleyball Tournament drew 32, four-player teams. Competitors ranged from former AVP and NBA athletes to high schooler Logan Sharp, whose family hosted the tournament and who, in his first Seawright, played on the winning team. Following the tournament, founding player Annie Seawright-Newton thanked the generations of players who pitch in each year. Among them were Mark Paaluhi and Jim Fox (directors), Chris Brown (handicapping), the Murray/Sharp familes (hosts), Jim Arico (announcing), Dani Hart and Mitch Meidroth (design), Schneider Properties (sponsors) and Daniel Inez (trophies).

Yes, we know Easy Reader and are free. But they are not free to produce. The advertiser model that traditionally supported newspapers is fading away.
