Ten years ago, Caroline Londergan was living in Washington D.C. as a professional modern dancer, teaching Pilates on the side. Her classes were held in the White House gym during lunch hours, attended by an unusual clientele: Secret Service and CIA agents, the D.C. SWAT team and the White House staff. Today, she runs White House Pilates, with two locations at the beach. Since opening in 2009, her widely varied clientele has included actress Kerry Washington and the NFL’s Richie Incognito. “We cater to everyone, from your regular couch potato to marathon athletes,” Londergan says. “Pilates has kept me close to my passion for movement and allowed me to make a career out of helping other people. A lot of it is posture and balances, so people can live a more balanced life.” White House Pilates offers a variety of classes in both group and private sessions.
