Palos Verdes is top seeded football team in Northern Division playoffs

Led by defending Northern Division champion Palos Verdes, four teams will represent the Bay League when the CIF Southern Section Championships presented by Farmers begin Friday.

The Sea Kings (8-2) earned the top seed and will host Righetti (5-5) in a 7 p.m. game at Redondo Union High School.

With its 35-0 win over rival Redondo Union, Mira Costa (7-3) will host Highland (6-4) of the Golden League at 7 p.m.. West Torrance (8-2) will travel to face Foothill runner-up Canyon of Canyon Country (8-2) in a 7:30 p.m. game while Redondo (6-4) plays at second-seeded Valencia (8-2) at 7 p.m.

In the Northwest Division, Pioneer League champion El Segundo (7-3) hosts Santa Paula (5-5) at 7 p.m. and Pioneer runner-up North Torrance (6-4) hosts third-seeded Bishop Diego (8-2) at 7:30 p.m.

Torrance (4-6) travels to Montview champion Azusa (8-2) in a 7:30 p.m.game to be played at Citrus College. Bishop Montgomery (6-4) has a tough road game against top-seeded Oak Park (9-1) at 7:30 p.m.

Chadwick (7-3) earned an at-large berth and will play at third-seeded Salesian (8-2) at 7:30 p.m in the first round of the Northeast Division playoffs.
