COVID-19 cases down, but experts warn of pandemic fatigue

New, confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the three Beach Cities were down nearly 50 percent last week (25 cases) from two weeks ago (45 cases). A month has gone by without new deaths attributed to the pandemic. The last death was in Redondo on September 20. But progress in tamping down the disease, brings a new threat. Experts call it Pandemic Fatigue and are blaming it for a third surge in COVID-19 cases underway in the Midwest.

Individuals worried about their mental well-being, may contact the Beach Cities Health District Assistance, Information & Referral line, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at (310) 374-3426, ext. 256. BCHD can recommend a number of providers who may be helpful to during this difficult time.
