ES charity – Surfridge hosts party

The newly opened Surfridge Brewery in Sleepy Hollow hosted a closing party for the Paint the Tower Pink project on Nov. 3. Paint the Tower Pink raised over $30,000 for City of Hope breast cancer research. At the start of October, (Breast Cancer Awareness Month), breast cancer research supporters paid for the privilege to paint El Segundo lifeguard tower 60 painted pink. The fundraiser was originated by Alex Abad, who’s Tower 60 foundation previously focused on raising funds for education.

The Surfridge party featured artists’ and photographers’ renderings of the pink tower and also trucker hats illustrated by some of California’s top tattoo artists. Surfridge is named for the former El Segundo neighborhood that planes from LAX now take off over. The land is now a protected habitat for the endangered El Segundo Blue butterfly.
