Hermosa Beach About Town

Leadership project unveiling

Leadership Hermosa Beach will unveil “Mark Your Mile,” the Class of 2018 project, in a celebration on The Strand this Saturday. Check-in for the event begins at 8:30 a.m. on Pier Plaza. The event is free, but registration is required. Participants will walk The Strand in each direction to scope out the quarter-mile markers that the group erected along the seawall in an effort to encourage outdoor exercise. All designs for the project were contributed by local artists, who will be positioned along the route to share the story of their project.

Donate Blood at St. Cross

Saint Cross Episcopal Church on Monterey Boulevard hosts a blood drive this Sunday morning. Organizers say they are hosting the drive because the start of the summer season typically coincides with a drop-off in blood giving. To make an appointment, go to RedCrossBlood.org or call 1 (800) 733-2767.

Budget meeting

The City Council will host a meeting this coming Wednesday at 7 p.m. devoted to the municipal budget. Council meetings are typically held the second and fourth Tuesday of each month. Another council meeting will take place as typically scheduled on Tuesday, June 12, but there will be no meeting on June 26.
