Police beat: Hit and run charges
Police charged a motorist with felony hit and run for allegedly running a bicyclist off the road and into a parked car, causing minor injury. Witnesses to the incident, which happened in the 1100 block of Hermosa Avenue July 23 at about 11:20 a.m., jotted down the vehicle’s license plate and told authorities, police said. Officers arrested the 82-year-old motorist at his home, police said.
Taste at the Beach coming
The Hermosa Beach Kiwanis Club will host the annual Taste at the Beach on Saturday, Aug. 19 from 3-7 p.m. on the patio of the Community Center. This year’s beneficiary of the wine, craft beer and food tasting event is the South Park Renovation Project, which will receive 100 percent of the proceeds.
Show for police and fire foundations

Three appointed to planning commission
The City Council reappointed two members of the planning commission and one new member to four-year terms. Kent Allen and Ron Pizer are incumbents. Mike Flaherty is a Hermosa Beach Public Works Commissioner.
L.A. Kings’ Macot at Hermosa Library
The Los Angeles Kings’ mascot Bailey will make an appearance at the Hermosa Beach Public Library Thursday, Aug. 2 from 4:30-5:15 p.m. Bailey and the team’s ice crew will talk about hockey with kids and read from a book about hockey. The library is located at 550 Pier Ave.
