The 2020 Jimmy Miller Surf Fiesta won’t be the fall surf celebration in El Porto this month that it’s been for the past 17 Octobers. Instead, because of the pandemic, surfers will gather in pods of four and submit photos and videos of each team member’s best wave for awards that include the coveted Best Wave, Worst Wipeout, Best Family, and Best Lounger. The bragging rights come with surf industry spiffs, including gift cards from Spyder, Sector 9 and Optics. The competition period is Oct. 15 through Oct. 31. Jimmy Miller offers ocean therapy to children and adults, including U.S. Marines at Camp Pendleton. To enter the contest JimmyMillerFoundation.org. ER

Yes, we know Easy Reader and EasyReaderNews.com are free. But they are not free to produce. The advertiser model that traditionally supported newspapers is fading away.
