Lisa Nichols promoted Hermosa Beach Community Resources Manager

Longtime Hermosa Beach city employee Lisa Nichols has been named Community Resources Manager. Nichols had been serving as interim manager since the departure of manager Kelly Orta last September.

Nichols said this week that her first priority is hiring a consultant for a recreation needs assessment plan. The plan will anticipate the city’s recreation needs over the next 20 years. It will include uses for city owned facilities, including the Community Center, the Clark, the Kiwanis, and Rotary buildings, open park space. The assessment will also review parks programs, including permits for privately run surf, and volleyball camps.  

Her new position includes responsibilities for the city’s parks and related facilities, as well as cultural, educational, recreational, community and social programs,as well as the Community Center and other community facilities.

Nichols attended El Camino College and Cal State Dominguez Hills. She was a recreation department leader with Torrance prior to joining Hermosa Beach in 2006 and being named Senior Recreation Supervisor and Recreation Coordinator. ER
