General Plan Advisory Committee

to drill down on ‘focus areas’

Redondo Beach’s General Plan Advisory Committee will continue its work to aid the city in defining the future of Redondo’s foundational land use document on Thursday, May 30.

This meeting will include a discussion of a series of “focus areas” that the GPAC is considering for possible zoning redefinitions. Those areas include Central and Southern portions of Pacific Coast Highway, North Redondo Beach’s Industrial area — near Manhattan Beach Boulevard and Inglewood Avenue — and areas surrounding the South Bay Galleria.

Plans to redefine those “focus areas” could be as little as maintaining the status quo, creating small refinements to existing zoning, or redefining the focus of those corridors. Some plans may allow for mixed-use residential and commercial development, while others would lean strictly toward commercial or industrial development, depending on the “focus area.”

The GPAC’s decisions are not final, but will be included as recommendations to Redondo Beach’s Planning Commission and City Council, before ultimately turning to residents for voter approval.

Thursday’s meeting takes place at 6:30 p.m. in the Second Floor Meeting Room at the Redondo Beach Main Library, 303 N. Pacific Coast Highway.
