1736 fund raiser

Las Candalistas Annual Spring Fundraiser benefiting 1736 House, Community’s Child, Trinity and KidsCare Hospice. This year’s theme is California Dreamin’ and will be held at the beautiful Catalina View Gardens. Live panel of speakers that made their California dreams come true. Shopping opportunities at Las Candalistas Creations, Gourmet Pantry and Garden Shop as well as many boutique vendors, silent auction items and a chance to win an experiential trip for two in California. Wings of Freedom

Experience World War II history on the ground and in the air with the Wings of Freedom Tour at Zamperini Field, 3301 Airport Drive, Torrance. See original WWII warbirds up close with walk-through tours of restored interiors of the B-17 Flying Fortress and B-24 Liberator, and see the B-25 Mitchell, P-51 Mustang, and P-40 Warhawk on the ramp. Big Wave Challenge awards

South Bay Boardriders Club and the Hermosa Beach Historical society host a reception for the 2019 Surfer Walk of Fame inductees, followed by Big Wave Challenge Awards, high school surf league awards and SB Boardriders contest series awards. Brad Jacobson’s film “Chasing Lions,” featuring film from the recent winter will be screened following the awards. 5 p.m. reception, 7 p.m. awards. $10. Surfer Walk of Fame inductions

Shaper Pat Ryan, former pro surfers Liz Benevidez and Ronnie Garner and The Beach Boys will be inducted into the Hermosa Beach Surfer Walk of Fame on Hermosa Beach Pier Plaza at 11 a.m. Spyder Fest, featuring live music and surf industry vendors will continue into the early evening.

Spyder fest

The 13th annual Spyder Surf Fest. Lots of celebrated athletes, brands, fashion, music, giveaways, and more. 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. Pier Plaza, downtown Hermosa Beach.  Musical acts Jamisen Jarvis, Kevin Sousa, special guests Little Dume, Park Wild, Dylan Rouda, Alinea and Good Vibe. Kevin Sousa will be the MC. Starting at 6:30 p.m., the festivities will continue with the official after-party at Watermans Restaurant in Hermosa Beach to celebrate the surf industry along with the new Surfers’ Walk of Fame inductees. Richstone walk for kids

The 32nd annual Richstone Family Center Walk Pier to Pier Walk raises funds for kids in troubled homes. The 3.6 mile walk starts at the Manhattan Beach Pier and proceeds along The Strand to the Hermosa pier, then back to the Manhattan pier. Check In 7:30 a.m., Pet Parade 7:45 a.m., opening ceremony and awards 8 a.m., walk starts 8:30 a.m. $30 per person, includes a commemorative T-shirt. Registration on walk day $35. Redondo Ed Foundation Gala
