Tennis: Redondo Beach’s Steve Johnson won his first ATP tour title at the Aegon Open in Nottingham, England on Sunday, June 26 with a 7-6 (7/5) 7-5 victory over Uruguayan Pablo Cuevas. The 26-year-old is competing at Wimbledon this week through July 10.
Beach Volleyball: The AAU will be holding the 23rd Girls National Championships in Hermosa Beach July 6-9 with 10/12/14/15/16/18 divisions competing. Swimming: Any contestant wanting to participate in the International Surf Festival’s Dwight Crum Pier-to-Pier Swim on Sunday, Aug. 7 who did not complete the 2015 swim must register for the swim on-line and then pass a 500-meter “check out” swim.
