Spotlight on the hill – Romanian For A Day

The Be Romanian For A Day festival at Ernie Howlett Park over Memorial Day weekend featured live music, traditional foods and beverages, and a show of traditional garments that were as as much as a century old. But more important was the opportunity for the Romanian community enjoy hearing their own language in everyday use and to connect with old friends and extended family. Highlights included an appearance by the Romanian ambassador and stirring performances of both the Romanian and US national anthems by opera soprano Daniela Podobea. Other Romanian events will be held at the park. See romanianfestivals.com for more information.
