Hermosa Beach Police Beat

Accident dispute turns nasty

A woman was arrested after allegedly trying to run a man over following a dispute over a minor collision in North Hermosa earlier this month. Imani Reba Water, 24, was arrested Feb. 8 on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, according to Hermosa Beach Police Department records. She was cited and released later that day, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The incident began about 3 p.m., shortly after Water parked her car on a North Hermosa street, said HBPD Sgt. Mick Gaglia. Not long after parking and leaving her vehicle, Water’s car made contact with another parked car. The owner of the other parked car, a man, called police to report the situation, Gaglia said. Officers responded, but the man realized that the collision had been a minor one, and decided police were not needed, Gaglia said, and the officers left. Then, about 4:30 p.m., the man saw Water return to her car, and confronted her, Gaglia said. A “heated exchange” ensued, and at some point, the man attempted to prevent Water from leaving. She pulled away, and the man was hit by the car and rolled up on to the hood of the car. The man called police again, and Water was arrested on the 3200 block of Hermosa Avenue, near where the accident occurred, Gaglia said. The man had visible injuries, but did not need to be taken to a hospital for treatment.
