Preparing for the big night two days hence, Abrakadabra performs its “Pre-New Year’s Eve” show at 8 p.m. in Suzy’s Bar & Grill, 1141 Aviation Blvd., Hermosa Beach. They’ll play originals and covers: Latin, pop, jazz with vocals, instrumentals, and so on. No cover. (310) 379-6171.

A chance to start over
Ring in the New Year from 8 to 11:45 p.m. at Pier Plaza in Hermosa Beach. Lou Giovanneti and His Big Band perform.
