Beach Art – “Walking through foam”

The exhibit, at Shockboxx Gallery in Hermosa Beach, included the first board Jose Barahona ever made, from a broken longboard. Other boards included collaborations with world-renowned shapers Hap Jacobs and Phil Becker, kookboxes made for artist Brian Bent, and recently shaped, traditional longboards and modern shortboards. Team rider Christian Stutzman’s board was accompanied by a listing of his extensive contest placings at longboard events around the world.

Glenn Sakamoto of Liquid Salt Magazine debuted “The Journey,” a short film, tracing Barahona’s journey from El Salvador to Hermosa Beach.

Barahona has been shaping for Becker Surfboards for over three decades and upon Hap Jacob’s recent retirement, began shaping Jacobs boards along with his own Barahona boards.
